               Moulana S A Asmal

Allah Taala says in AlQuraan AlKareem:

“And out of love do they feed the Destitute, Orphan and the Prisoner. We only
feed you for the Pleasure of Allah and desire neither a return nor thanks from
                                         you.” - Surah Ad-Dahr No: 76 - Ayah 7 & 8
“And assist one another with goodness and piety and do not aid in vice and
                                         transgression” - Surah Almaidah 5: Ayat 2

Nabi Muhammad (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasalam) has said:
➢ “This world is a Prison for a Believer and Paradise for a Non-Believer.”
➢ “Feed the hungry, visit the sick and free the Prisoner”
➢ “The Best of mankind is one who benefits mankind the most”
➢ “Every one of you is Responsible and every one of you is accountable for those
                     under you.”

Alhumdulillah, All Praises are due to Allah Taala owner of the worlds, Salawaat (Salutations)
upon our Beloved Master, Sayyiduna Nabi Muhammad (Sallalahu alaihi wasalam) his Aal
(Family) and illustrious Sahaaba (Companions) (Radhiyallahu Anhum).

Alhumdulillah, Allah Taala has chosen us for the noble task of serving our Brothers and Sisters
incarcerated in the Correctional Centres of KwaZulu-Natal. It is only with the Fadhal (Divine
Favour) of Allah Taala that the Muslim Prison Board KwaZulu-Natal (MPB-KZN) has been
serving the Muslim Offenders for the past 42 years. Allah Taala reward our pious predecessors
for initiating this noble task of serving Humanity. May these efforts be Sadaqah Jaariyah
(Perpetuating Reward) for all the Marhumeen (deceased) (rahimahumullah alaihim) (Aameen).
Alhumdulillah we are reaping the harvest of their seeds planted with Ikhlaas -sincerity and
Mujaahadah -sacrifices and we shall continue building on their legacy. InshaAllah.

Alhumdulilah, we make Shukar that we are present at this the 19 Annual General Meeting of
                                                                               th
the MPB-KZN. May Allah Taala unite our hearts, make this meeting a source of Barakah-
blessings, grant us Ikhlaas (Sincerity) Istiqaamah (Steadfastness), Qubuliat (Acceptance) and
crown our sacrifices with fruition, InshaAllah. (Aameen).

Alhumdulullah since the last AGM held on Saturday 30 October 2022/23 Rabiul Awwal 1444 at
Hartley Road school Durban, we have progressed in leaps and bounds and travelled all the way
               to the NOFTA Hall, Newcastle.

We have now assembled to review, evaluate efforts, synthesize progress, critique performance
and redirect shortcomings. We are all accountable to Allah Taala and the Ummah. A wiseman
wrote:” Good men prefer to be accountable."

It is commendable to note the enthusiasm shown by all thus far. We have to accelerate our work
ethics as a unique Team. “Teamwork divides the Task and Multiplies the Success. The
strength of the Team is each individual member and the strength of each member is the
Team. Success is noted by all when it is complimented”.

Falakalhamdu Washukar (Praises & Thanks be to Allah Taala) that the MPB-KZN has made
some phenomenal progress thus far and hope to work smarter to achieve the targets set out.
               InshaAllah.
