Highlights
1. Community Awareness outreach Roadshow Programmes.
2. Effective Training & supervision of the Zonal Coordinators & Spiritual Care
Workers.
3. Attendance at all Mashuras, Roadshows for our umbrella organisation National
Muslim Prison Board of South Africa.
4. Meetings & Engagements with our stakeholders, especially the Department of
Correctional Services (DCS) and many Islamic NGO’s (JUKZN, SANHA,
SANZAF, RAUF, Darul Ihsan etc)
5. Successful rollout of the Pre-Ramadhaan Workshops held at the DCS
Correctional Centres
6. Islamic Spiritual Care, Ramadhaan, Eidain, Aashura & Seerah Programmes
conducted at the most Correctional Centres serving approximately 1500
Brothers and Sisters.
7. Parolee Success Stories
8. Substantial progress has been made with regards to Halaal provision within CC’s
and with continued training being provided to the DCS Members.
We compliment the sacrifices of all the Board of Governors, Executive, Zonal Coordinators,
Spiritual Care Workers and Volunteers.
The impact of the efforts of the Muslim Prison Board – KwaZulu-Natal can be gauged from the
following examples:
• Feedback from the DCS regarding improved Muslim Offender behaviour:
o Due to the successful implementation of “Project Ramadhaan 2023 / 1445”.
o The Islamasiztion of the DCS Programmes eg Anger Management.
• Post release programmes impact on releasees / parolees. (Refer to “Success Stories”)
• Parolee programmes held with positive feedback from parolees on their journey forward.
• Entrepreneurship Programme - successful micro-business start-ups.
• Offenders integrating into society via MPB-KZN programmes and being attached to
Masaajid, ensuring adherence to carrying out religious practices.
In conclusion, we offer Jazakallah (Gratitude) for having been granted the opportunity to serve
in this Khidmah field of Deen known as Khidmat Khalq (Service to Humanity). A special
Jazakallah to our Board of Governors, the Executive Committee, ZCs, SCWs and volunteers
and all of their families and the Ulama Kiraam for their continued encouragement, guidance and
Duas as well as all the well-wishers for their support.
We also acknowledge the rapport we enjoy with the DCS at National, Regional & Management
level and thank all the Members of the DCS for their continued guidance and assistance.
We acknowledge the Community of Newcastle for supporting our Deputy Ameer, Moulana
Ridwaan Ravat Sahib for hosting this AGM.
Nabi Muhammad (Sallalahu Alihi Wassalam) said “Whoever is not Thankful to man is not
Grateful to Allah Ta ala”.
Let’s keep pushing and propel the MPB-KZN towards greater achievements InshaAllah. Safe
