11. Strategic Planning

The purpose of The Muslim Prison Board – KwaZulu-Natal (MPB-KZN) Strategic Plan is
based on the injunctions of Al-Qur’an, the sayings of our Beloved Prophet Nabi Muhammad
(Salalahu alaihi wasalam) and from South Africa’s constitutional, legislative and policy
           mandates.

Allah (SWT) says in the Qur’anal Kareem that the people who deserve HIS eternal reward
“are those whose affairs are decided by mutual consultation between themselves and those
who spend of that which We have provided for them in sustenance”. Our Beloved Prophet
(SAW) has advised us to approach our affairs with planning and that “whoever takes counsel
does not regret it in the end”.

Apart from the injunctions above, the MPB-KZN is also inspired by the Al-Qur’an when it
states that “And they provide food, for the Love of Allah, to the destitute, the orphan, and the
prisoner. (Saying): We only feed you for the Pleasure of Allah; we neither want any
compensation from you, nor any thanks.” (Surah Dahr). In addition, we are also motivated
by our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salalahu alaihi wasalam) when he said “Faithful
believers are to each other as the bricks of a wall, supporting and reinforcing each other”
and “Strive for the release of a prisoner, feed the hungry, and visit the sick”.

Given the above, the MPB-KZN crafted the vision and mission statements highlighted on
           pare two of this Report.

In order for the MPB-KZN to realize it vision and mission, the following Strategic Goals were
           developed:
