P. 26

I owe my transformation to God Almighty, my parents, The Muslim Prison Board, my
spiritual teachers, and the current system of the correctional facilities, which has made
it possible and convenient for hardened criminals to change and become assets to their
communities as long as they have taken a step towards changing their lives.

My dream and mission is to see our country transforming from a gangster state into a
country where we are led by ethical, moral, upright responsible, colour-blind and God
Conscious leaders, where opportunities are given to all despite their race, gender, and
criminal backgrounds and this may be a means of reducing crime in the near future and
              for generations to come.

                 1.2. Nafisa Dlamini

              Asalamu Alaikum Warohmatulahi Wabarakatu

I am 32 years old, a mother of 5 children and live in Marianhill, Durban. I was married to a
Malawian man. We were married for a year and 2 months. In 2020 I discovered that my husband
Lucky was raping my daughter (from my first marriage) and my daughter was afraid to tell me
because he told her that he would kill all of us in the house. I called the police to arrest him.

He was sentenced to imprisonment for 20 years. I struggled a lot after that and there was no
one helping me and the kids, I went to SANZAF for assistance cause things were really bad for
me. They referred me to Muslim Prison Board.

In 2020 August I bought a small plot of land and built a one room mud hut and a one room block
room. It was my savings from my previous tuckshop. I used my savings to build this house and
buy the plot off and that was worth R5000.00

The Muslim Prison Board helped me to reopen my business. They told me to start attending
business classes before they could assist me. Inshallah. I started the business classes for a
month, the classes were very helpful because there were many things I learnt (how to save
              money & profit, etc).

Muslim Prison Board assisted me with R9500.00. Of this, R8000.00 was for the purchase of
stock and R1500.00 was for my rent for the tuckshop. Alhamdulillah, I opened my tuckshop. I
was so happy. I thank the Prison Board for the assistance they gave me. Every month I send
my sales report to them to see how the business is doing. Alhamdulillah the tuckshop is a great
              success.

With all the saving I had I planned to add some rooms and make my house bigger and better.
In January 2023 the Muslim Prison Board Organization assisted me with the roof materials and
windows. I bought other material with savings.

May Allah grant the Prison Board Barakah. Alhamdulillah the business is operating very well
and I now also have a house with a lounge, kitchen with two bedrooms and bathroom and toilet.

              Jazakallah Kharin
